– In 1649, ONE vote caused Charles I of England to be executed

– In 1776, ONE vote gave America the English language instead of German

– In 1845, ONE vote brought Texas into the Union

– In 1868, ONE vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment

– In 1923, ONE vote gave Adolph Hitler control of the Nazi party

– In 1943, ONE vote saved the Selective Service System just 12 weeks before Pearl Harbor

Inside each one of us are the gifts and talents and skills that Jesus Christ Himself gave to us. It took one person to come up with the greatest invention, one artist to paint the world’s greatest masterpiece, one preacher who taught God’s Word that saved thousands of lives, one doctor who changed the course of medicine, and the list can go on and on.

As I read the Bible, I am amazed about how often it only took one man or one woman or even one child to change the course of their time, to be used in a miracle, to be obedient to God. It was ONE:

David alone faced Goliath

Esther alone approached the king

One boy’s lunch was used to feed over 5,000 people

One man, Judas, betrayed Jesus

One man, Jesus Christ, died for you

What would it take for you to be the ONE?

– The one who would stand for what is right

– The one who prayed for their city to know God

– The one who loved a child when no one else did

– The one who believed for healing

– The one to make the choice to serve Jesus Christ

– The one who chose obedience above all else

– The one who believed

– The one to be used by God

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” — Edward Everett Hale
