5 BELIEFS THAT CAN MAKE THIS THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE.

I’m a firm believer in the power of principles.  When you put irrefutable truths into practice, the results are deep and lasting-often life-changing.

Proof of this can be found in the life of David.  In 1 Samuel 17, Goliath was threatening everyone.  No one had the courage to fight him.  Now enters David.  He faced and beat Goliath.  How?  In his own strength?  No way!

Verses 45-47 show David’s confession of irrefutable truths that pressed courage and power into his life.  It was his confession in God that enabled David to take down the giant.

In your life you can take down the giants that stalk you. Let me give you 5 beliefs that can strengthen your life this year.  I recommend you state these principles out loud often.

01.  “I’VE BEEN GIVEN AUTHORITY OVER THE DEVIL.”

1 John 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The devil has far more power than you do, but you have far more authority than he does.  Why?  Because you are born-again and possess the divine nature.

I was watching a copy show the other day with Steven Seagal. They were arresting a guy for getting in a fight. He was a HUGE guy, I mean a very intimidating guy with a deep voice and muscles on top of muscles.  However the policeman who was arresting him was evidently out of shape to say the least.  I was thinking to myself, “this big guy could easily take the policeman down.” Why didn’t he? It’s because he knew that backing up that single police man was an authority that he could never win against.

This is a great example that shows how authority is so much more powerful than personal power. The devil may be stronger than you, but you have the authority of heaven backing up your actions.

“If the Devil made you do it, you blew it.”

Let me ask you a question. What are areas in your life have we allowed the enemy to run over us? How do you stop him from running you over?

02.  “I HATE SIN, BUT I LOVE ALL PEOPLE.”

John 8:11: No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Jesus did not endorse this woman’s behavior, but He loved her.  No wonder her life was changed.  Will that still work today?  Absolutely!

The church is often times known for all things it is against, and too little for the people we are called to love.

In the New Zealand churches they don’t ask the question. “How many people have you shared the gospel with?” They instead ask this question. “How many people have you shared the Love of God with today?” Today make a declaration in your life to genuinely love people.

03.  “I HAVE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL MY THOUGHTS.”

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Every temptation begins as a thought.  When that happens allow God’s power to fill you, as the verse says, He will give you both the ability and strategy to control your thought.

04.  “I CAN PRAY ABOUT EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE IN MY LIFE.”

Mark 11:23 I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

Please, do not limit prayer to the “Big things” in life or to merely the “spiritual issues” you face.  Pray about everything!

It was a few years ago that my mom had come to visit our home. It was the last night of her being there and as she was packing up she could not find her glasses. So I offered to help and together with my wife we spend the next hour and a half searching through the home looking for her glasses. I was sweating, I was tired, and a bit irritated the they were lost.

We had all but given up, when my little 5-year-old boy said “Dad, can we pray that God helps us find them?” I looked at him and said, “Yes.” My boy simply said “Jesus, help us find Grandma’s glasses.” Can I tell you, as soon as he finished praying, I saw them sitting on a ledge in the kitchen. God answered the prayer of my little boy.

What is it you need to go to God about today and talk with Him about?

05.  “I’M POISED FOR SUCCESS AND WILL NOT ACCEPT DEFEAT AS FINAL.”

1 John 5:4,5 For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Now let’s be clear–this promise is only for those who have been born of God. Why not pour super-glue on your feet and stand on this verse.

You can be an over comer!
